Lillie Faye Dedmon Kennedy
Lillie Faye Dedmon Kennedy, 88 years old peacefully went home to heaven on September 29, 2015 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
Faye was born September 27, 1927 in Lincoln County, to the late Charlie Dedmon and Gertrude Wellmon Dedmon. She graduated from North Brook High in Lincoln County and nursing school at Shelby Hospital. She took continuing education classes included Duke University, Cleveland Community College with numerous credit hours and certificates. She loved her Nursing because "there were no two days alike." She received the Long Leaf Pine Lifetime Award.
Faye was competitive in sports at senior games and won many medals and trophies. She was an avid word finder, scrapbook keeper, album organizer, reader, bingo player, walker and tour-bus traveler. Her sports team was the Atlanta Braves.
She volunteered and did fundraisers at the COA Senior Center in numerous jobs. She volunteered and raised money at her church in various ways. She attended Life Enrichment Center for five years and enjoyed all the activities, singing, plays and games. She enjoyed clubs: Friendship, Dine Around and Red Hat. She enjoyed Hospital Retirement Events, North Brook High Reunions and Family Reunions.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Plato Kennedy and a daughter, Wilma Faye Kennedy; five brothers, Lester, Ervin, Evan, Brian and Glenn and three sisters, Levone, Bonnie Mae and Devette.
She is survived by a caregiver and niece, Jean Dover. Her ethics, faith, integrity, winning personality and smile won many friendships including neighbors at a Forest Glen Apartments. Special friends include Julia Dellinger, Juanita and Louis Patterson.
Visitation: 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM, Thursday at Royster Avenue Church of God
A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 PM, Thursday at Royster Avenue Church of God with Rev. Richard Shores officiating.
