Lola Stroupe Beam
Cherryville - Mrs. Lola Stroupe Beam, 94, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Beam was born in Gaston County, NC on September 8, 1922 a daughter of the late Bedie VanDyke Stroupe. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church Cherryville where she worked in the nursery for over 40 years and also served in various other capacities in the church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James L. "J.L." Beam, Jr. and a sister Margaret Stroupe Fraley.
Survivors include a son James L. "Jim" Beam, III and wife Becky of Cherryville; daughter Caryl Austell and husband Bob of Cherryville; grandchildren Elizabeth Shuford and husband Lee of Cherryville and Lindsay Beam of Matthews; step-granddaughters Paige Hartman and husband Matt of Cherryville; Amy Turner and husband David of Keller, TX; Kim Crane and husband Stephen;Tessie Smith and husband Danny all of Cherryville; also surviving are 12 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team of caregivers and Hospice of Cleveland County for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 2:45 to 3:45PM at First United Methodist Church and at other times the family will be at the home of a daughter, Caryl Austell, 3040 Masters Court, Cherryville, NC 28021.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 4:00PM at First United Methodist Church in Cherryville with the Rev. Joe Collins, D. Min. and Rev. Leonard Bumgarner
Burial will be in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 601 N. Pink Street, Cherryville, NC 28021 or to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150 or to the Crossnore School for Children 100 DAR Drive, Crossnore, NC 28616.
