Lou Jean Dedmon Hamrick, 91, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, on October 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lawson Dedmon and Verdie Mae Horn Dedmon. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Lou Jean could often be found through the years working in the Cleveland County Fair Exhibit Hall and visiting friends and family in nursing homes with a dear friend Cedar McDonald.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sylvanus Hamrick and brother, Hal Dedmon.

She is survived by her son, Alan Hamrick of Shelby; daughter, Lynn Bryant and husband, Mike of Dacula, GA; brother, Roy D. Dedmon of Shelby; four grandchildren, Matthew Bryant, Stephen Bryant and wife, Breanna, Lauren Bryant, and Jonathan Bryant; and four great-grandchildren, Everly, Lassiter, Emersyn & Rylie.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Bird and Dr. Rick Hamrick officiating.
