Louie Austin May
Louie Austin May, 80 of Shelby passed away May 13, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Born December 24, 1936 in Watauga County to the late Charlie Austin May and Ruth Smitherman May . He was the owner of Lou May Inc.. He served in the US Army and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Louie was a master craftsman in refurbishing classic cars. He brought new life to every masterpiece he created. He was also a Bible scholar through intensive study. He had a passion for teaching others about Jesus Christ and leading them to know their Maker. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. A selfless person and servant of the Lord, he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah May Dellinger.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Reta Ann Greene May; son, Brandt Austin May and wife Wendy of Wake Forest; daughter Sonni May Sly and husband Telly of Cramerton; sister, Beaulah Jean Whisnant of Lenoir; five grandchildren, Molly Sly, Charlie Sly, Bentley Sly, Adison May and Peyton May; niece and nephew, Rusty and Paula Dellinger of Lenoir and Shannon and Allen Stansbury of Boone and one great niece and two great nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday at 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 3:00 PM at Stamey - Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Black officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
