Louis Ray Patterson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Carolina Care Health and Rehab.

He was born on July 18, 1933, in Yancey County, North Carolina, and was the son of the late John Ray Patterson and Mae Baker Patterson.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Patterson; his sisters, Dorothy Allen and Nadine Cooper; and his daughter, Brenda Black.

Louis had a passion for playing golf and a deep appreciation for classic cars, interests that brought him much enjoyment throughout his life.

He is survived by his sons: Gary (Debbie) of Myrtle Beach, Steve (Pam) of Ellenboro, and Tim (Tina) of Belmont; and his daughter, June Hersek (Rocky) of Shelby. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Royster Avenue Church of God in Shelby, followed by a time of receiving friends at 3:00 PM with light refreshments.
