Malie Louvenia Barnes, 61, of Cleveland County, NC, departed this life on January 21, 2025 at Wendover Hospice Cleveland, in Shelby, NC.

She was born on May 10, 1963 in Baltimore, MD, to Julia Koon and the late Joe L. Barnes.

Malie lived life as if every day was her last. She enjoyed taking care of everyone else, making sure her family and friends needs were met expecting no rewards in return. She was known to spoil every kid who crossed her path and wanted to see every birthday and holiday was done in excellent taste. And not to go unnoticed, her compassion did not stop there. She spent years working as a home health nurse and working for Hospice, where she spent her last days.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Julia R. Barnes; siblings, Betty (Micheal) Burson, Rose Sanders, Elaine Barnes, Tracey Barnes, and Ronnie Barnes, Joe Junior Barnes; grandchildren, Travis Barnes, Jr. and Amina Edwards; god-daughter, Shanequal Sanders; special friends, Tru Smith and Karsyn Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends. Enloe Mortuary was in charge of the services.
