Margaret "Maggie" Neal Matthews Cochran, 79, of Lawndale, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Atrium Health - Cleveland in Shelby. Born in Gaston County on July 10, 1946 she was a daughter of the late Scott Matthews and Margie Miller Matthews. She was a retired substitute teacher having worked for Gaston and Cleveland County Schools. Margaret loved farming and spending time with her husband on their chicken farm in Lawndale. She was an avid shopper and loved finding a good bargain. She attended New Beginnings Church in Fallston. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Parker. Margaret is survived by her husband of thirty years, Daniel "Dan" Roy Cochran; four children, John Rowland and wife Julie of Fishers, IN, Alecia Ross of Kings Mountain, Peggy Henderson and husband Robbie of Grover, and Grady Joe Cochran of Bessemer City; two sisters, Ruth Smith of Gastonia and Terri Hayes and husband Randy of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Noah Rowland, Evan Rowland, Dylan Ross, Matthew Ross, Austin Henderson and wife Montanna; and four great grandchildren, Avery, Carter, Waylon and Stetson. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Travis Mull officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, NC.
