It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Margie Cornwell Long, age 80, on Saturday, September 5, 2026 while surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Margie was born in Cherokee County, North Carolina to the late Virgil Cornwell and Hollis McTigger Cornwell. She is also predeceased by her spouse, William "Buddy" Franklin Long; siblings, Greely Cornwell and Ruby Gardner.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, James David Long (Melissa), and Rodney Darren Long (Margo); grandchildren, Erika Gauthier (Zach), Amanda Prescott (Jason); Joshua Long (Kyle), Steffani Long, James "Dylan" Long, Brandy Dugger (Josh), James "Alex" Henley, Adam Henley, and Jacqueline Brown; great-grandchildren, Kylee Gauthier, Noah Gauthier, Isabella Long, Jenna Prescott, James "Jr." Long, Brady Prescott, Luna Long, Lexi Clawson, and Leighton Clawson; siblings, Paul Cornwell and Creed Cornwell.

During Margie's lifetime she worked as a Packer in Textiles. She was a member at East Belmont Church of God. She loved reading, especially the Bible, cooking and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christmas was a very special Holiday for her as she enjoyed showering her loved ones. She will remain in our hearts forever.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Evergreen - A Quiet Place,1462 Armstrong Frd Rd, Belmont, NC 28012 with Pastor Chris Seagle officiating.
