Marion Lee Campbell
Gaffney - A memorial service for Marion Lee Campbell, 70, resident of 216 Darwin Road, Gaffney, will be held Sunday, May 10th at 2:00 following a Celebration of Life luncheon beginning at noon in the social hall of Sardis United Methodist Church.
Marion was born in Anderson, SC on April 15, 1956. His younger years were spent in Clemson, SC graduating from Daniel High School and Anderson College. Marion loved 'the Arts" especially painting and music. Most of his adult years were spent immersed in the Macon, GA music scene headlined by the Allman Bros. This involvement created his interest in the guitar which he cultivated and enjoyed tremendously for the remainder of his life.
Marion is survived by his beloved daughter, Hannah C. Sanders (Blake) and two grandsons, C. Levee and W. Batteau, all of Cape Girardeau, MO. Also, Meg H. Campbell of Macon, GA, Gerald D. Campbell (Caroline) of Greenville, SC, Mary L. Cline of Greenville, SC, John H. Campbell (June) of Gaffney, SC, Susan A. Payne (Walter) of Piedmont, SC, and Sarah A. Poplin (Michael) of Watkinsville, GA. And an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, S. Herbert and Grace D. Campbell and a brother, Kenneth R. Campbell (Vera) of Pickens, SC.
Marion was very involved in his church and community and recently completed the requirements as a lay servant for the United Methodist Church and only classes away from lay speaker. He will be GREATLY missed by family, friends, church and community.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Friends of Sardis Cemetery Fund (an endowment for cemetery maintenance) at Friends of Sardis PO Box 8214 Gaffney, SC 29342.
