Marlene Grace Adams Gold, age 81, passed away on Sunday February 28, 2021 at her home in Earl. Born in Cherokee County, SC on February 7, 1940 she was the daughter of the late James Adams and Evelyn Hamrick Adams. Marlene was a long time member of New Hope Baptist Church and the Louie Allen Sunday school class. She was retired from Minette Mills in Grover and also from Burlan Corporation of Gastonia. Marlene enjoyed outings on Friday nights with friends and with the Live Wires church seniors group.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Samuel H. Gold and one sister Betty Adams Henson.

Marlene is survived by two sons; Jimmy Gold and wife Lisa and Tommy Gold and wife Freida all of Earl; two sisters; Edna Martin of Chesnee, SC and Anita Morgan also of Earl, three grandchildren, Sabrina Gold, Matt Gold, and Jordan Gold as well as four great-grandchildren, Leah Gold, Mason Gold, C.J. Gold, and Henry Gold, and a very special caregiver, Eunice Brown of Kings Mountain.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00pm in the church sanctuary, and at all other times at the home of Tommy and Frieda Gold.

It is requested that those in attendance wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
