Marsha Carpenter Proctor, affectionately known as Meme, 80, of Casar passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.

She was born on January 23, 1946 in Cleveland County and was a daughter of the late Dewey "Ed" Edward Carpenter and Lucille Clark Carpenter. Marsha worked for the FBI in Washington, DC after high school. She was retired from Casar Elementary School after 33 years. After retiring from Casar Elementary School, Marsha worked for the Board of Elections during election years. She was a member of Casar United Methodist Church.

Meme loved her family, riding the Harley Davidson with Truman, riding her horse Dan, Elvis, tending to her flowers, and cooking. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren. She left a legacy of love, grace and memories. Meme will be missed, but her family rejoices in the fact she is whole in body, soul, and mind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Linda Diane Carpenter and brother, David Carpenter.

Marsha is survived by her husband of 56 years, Truman Proctor; two sons, Bryan Proctor and wife, Roxanne of Casar and Jason Proctor and wife, Michelle of Apex; four grandchildren, Anna Simpson, Bryson Proctor, Jackson Proctor and Madison Proctor and four great-grandchildren, River Simpson, Rhett Simpson, Riggs Simpson and Lucy Simpson.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Pruett officiating.

Burial will follow at Casar United Methodist Church Cemetery.
