It was a great concert benefiting a great organization, the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association. After a rousing performance of the opening band, “Power Dam”, the crowd rose to their feet to welcome the Marshall Tucker Band! The Southern rock band shook the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center at Gardner-Webb University last Saturday evening to raise money for CRKA. The band was formed in Spartanburg, S. C. in 1971. Their peak came in 1977 with the million-selling album “Carolina Dreams” and its Top 15 single “Heard It In A Love Song”, and they continue to perform, write, record and tour. Pictured above is one of the founding band members, lead vocalist, Doug Gray.
