Martha Ann Nelson Hagins, 82, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 at her home.

She was born to the late Truman Hitih Nelson and Ezma Ruth Poteet Nelson in Missouri. She is also predeceased by her siblings, Mary Louise Roberts Hall Summerour, Elizabeth Ann Engert, Kay B. Nelson, Alice M. Boyer and Jackie Armstrong; daughters, Lori Hamrick Forner (Roger) and Anita Hamrick Werner (John); special in-laws who she considered family, Hubert and Annie Mae Gold Hamrick and John Bill and Mary Gold Hamrick Rudasill; special nephew, Nicky Rudasill.

Martha leaves behind to cherish her memories her granddaughters, Annie Werner Stern of Hagerstown, MD and Mary Werner of North Chesterville, VA; special nieces and nephews, John Rudasill, Jr. (Vickie), Lawndale NC, Rusty Rudasill (Kim), Lawndale NC, Angie Rudasill Cavada (Tom), Kerry Rudasill (Linda), Shelby NC, Aimee Rudasill Moore (Chris), Wilmington NC, Kristi Rudasill Greene (Court), Canton NC, Billy Rudasill (Jennifer), Lexington, SC, Carter Moore, Lillee Moore, Gideon Greene, Ezra Greene, Caroline Rudasill, Marigold Rudasill, Brianna Rudasill, Hope Rudasill, Miriam Rudasill, Jay Rudasill, Daniel Rudasill, JoAnna Rudasill and other nieces and nephews.

Martha served in the United States Air Force from1957 to 1959 at MAREH AFB, California. She retired from The State of South Carolina with more than 25 years of service. She was a Cancer and stroke survivor. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Shelby NC and a member of the Singles Co Ed 45 Plus Sunday School Class.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cross stitch, playing computer games, shopping, traveling with Sunday School class, spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed her day trips to visit friends in South Carolina. She always looked forward to her trips to Virginia to visit her family there. She will forever be in our hearts.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 4:00 pm, at First Baptist Church,120 N. Lafayette Street Shelby, NC 28150. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be made to the Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church, Shelby NC or to the American Cancer Society.
