Mary Ann Hogan Minor of Shelby age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 9, 2026. Born on May 11, 1943, in Alamo, Georgia. She was the daughter of Harris Candler Hogan and Wyolene Wheeler Hogan. Mary Ann was married to the love of her life, Edward Malcom Minor, on August 15, 1965, beginning a love story that transcends even death and lives on in eternal glory.
Mary Ann was a devoted educator who dedicated 32 years of her life to teaching kindergarten, earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Her patience, warmth, and love for children left a lasting impression on every young life she touched. Above all, she was a loving Christian mother whose devotion to her family was second only to her devotion to the Lord.
She was a faithful member of Pleasant City Church, where her love for the Lord was a cornerstone of her daily life. Mary Ann began each morning in quiet devotion - coffee in hand, spending time with the Lord through reading her devotionals - a routine that reflected the deep and steady faith she carried throughout her life. She had a gift for making ordinary moments meaningful, whether it was tending to her many beautiful flowers, enjoying lunches with her cherished friends, or savoring a meal out with her daughter. She treasured her morning phone calls with her son and found her greatest joy in time spent with family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Malcom Minor; her father, Harris Candler Hogan; her mother, Wyolene Wheeler Hogan; and her grandchildren, Brett Green and Brady Green.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Partin, and her husband Jay Partin; her son, Michael Edward Minor, and his wife Michelle Minor; and her grandchildren, Ben Green, Gavin, Grant, Ansley, Eliza Minor, Sarah Nelson, and Tyler Partin, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
