Mary Elizabeth Givens, age 93, of Bostic, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 at Fair Haven of Forest City.

Born December 28, 1924 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of Paul and Dora Carpenter. She was a member of Florence Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Briscoe John "BJ" Givens; and four sisters, Lois Elmore, Louise Holland, Dorothy James, and Patricia Randall.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John Givens and wife, Barbara; daughter, Faith Avalos and husband, Jerry; six grandchildren, Briscoe John Givens III, Mary Blake Givens, David Andrew Givens, Benjamin Lloyd Givens, Jeremy Bryan Avalos, and Joshua Brandon Avalos; and four great grandchildren, Maddie Ann Givens, Baxter Reaves Givens, Abel Andrew Givens, and Lucy Susanne Givens.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robin Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
