ELLENBORO - Mary Rachel Greene Mathis, 69, of Short Road, Ellenboro, died on Saturday, December 15, 2012. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on December 8, 1943, a daughter of the late Max Melvin and Minnie Bell Sheppard Greene. She was retired from Stonecutter Mills and was a member of Heaven Bound Baptist Church, Ellenboro.
 
She is survived by her brothers, James Samuel Greene of Ellenboro, Larry Greene and wife Brenda of Mooresboro, and Clyde Greene and wife Faye of Cliffside; her sisters, Hattie Banning of Mooresboro, Pat Conner and husband Zeb of Mooresboro, and Shirley Humphries and husband Jerry of Shelby; numerous nieces and nephews.
 
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Bowens officiating. The family will greet friends and family following the service.
