Mrs. Maude Kathryn Gettys Melton, 92, of Casar, North Carolina passed away on October 27, 2025, at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

Born August 30, 1933, in the Duncan's Creek community of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late James Abernathy Gettys and Fannie Waters Gettys. She was a homemaker and a member of Casar Baptist Church. She loved taking care of her family, gardening, and mowing grass on her trusty Snapper riding mower.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melton was predeceased by her husband, Herman Lucolia Melton; her brothers, Dewitt Gettys and J.O. Gettys; her sisters Mildred Gettys, Mary Gettys Hollifield, Mattie Gettys, and an infant sister.

She is survived by her daughters and their families, Myra Douglass (Lee), Madelyne Douglass and Brody Douglass of Casar and Melody Roberts (David) and Laura Roberts of Shelby. Mrs. Melton is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and special friend and caregiver, Pam Hendrick.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1st from 10 AM to 11 AM at Casar Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with the Rev. Doug Pruett officiating.

Burial will be in the Casar Baptist Church cemetery.
