Mettie Josephine Fredell Pruitt
Mettie Josephine Fredell Pruitt, 85, of 6722 Casar Rd., Lawndale, went home to be with the Lord Friday September 16, 2016 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a very loving and caring lady and her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed her flowers, bird watching and crafts. The family was truly blessed to have such a great role model.
Born July 7, 1931 in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Henry Fredell and Essie Louellen Wortman Fredell. She was retired from Henredon Furniture Company in Morganton and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where she was the assistant choir director.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty one years, Garland Walter Pruitt, one brother, Cleotis Fredell, and four sisters, Hattie Davis, Hettie Willis, Mattie Scronce and Vonita Hull.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Pruitt & Wanda of Vale; one daughter & son-in-law, Peggy & Bill Swink of Casar; one sister, Georgeanne Mitchem of Vale; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all of the amazing caregivers at Hospice Cleveland County for their kindness during her illness.
The visitation will be Sunday from 2:00PM until 5:00PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
The graveside service will be Monday at 3:00PM at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Revs. R.A. Brackett and Robert Mote officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
