Molean Corry Morrow



Mrs. Molean Corry Morrow, 93 of 2738 S. Lafayette St. Shelby, NC died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby.  She was born on May 21, 1920 in Cleveland County, NC and was the youngest daughter of the late Lon and Eliza Accor Corry.

 

Mrs. Morrow was a graduate of Cleveland High School where she was a member of the girl’s basketball team.  She was employed for many years as a dietician at Camp High School.  There was never a child who went hungry as long as she was around.  She was also employed with Ryburn Memorial Church’s daycare until retiring.

 

Mrs. Morrow was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church where she became a member at an early age.  She was a member of the missionary department and also the choir.  In addition, she was the oldest member of the church.  Her pastimes included sewing, canning, quilting and she loved being around all children.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomasene Morrow and two sisters, Nellie Hardin Booker and Rubynell Townsend.

 

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Mazalene Jordan of Concord, NC, Peggy Brown (Ernest) of Charlotte, NC and Penelope “Penny” Gulaid of Shelby; two sons, Alonzo Morrow of Shelby and J.T. Morrow (Barbara) of York, SC; one brother, L.D. Corry of Shelby; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; “special” grandson, Billal “Bill” Gulaid; two former daughters-in-law whom she remained close to, Portia Morrow of Shelby and Deborah Morrow of Charlotte; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Terrill of Philadelphia, PA, Lottie Morrow of Brooklyn, NY and Sylvia Morrow of Lenoir, NC; a brother-in-law, Johnny Gaither of Philadelphia; a special friend, Dorothy Allison Hosch of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and the many children who were like family to her.

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Isaac officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Friday.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
