Morris Franklin Hodge, known fondly as Morris, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Vale, North Carolina.

Born on January 18, 1931, in Greenville, South Carolina, Morris's life was marked by dedication, humor, and an unwavering spirit of courage.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Annie Hodge, and his brothers Harold Hodge Jr., Roddy Hodge, and William Hodge. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved wife of 70 years, Evelene Hodge; his son David Hodge; daughters Teresa Lowery and Linda Hodge; sister Jane Sparks and her husband, Sparky ; sister-in-law Gail Hodge; brother-in-law Hubert Wright; five grandchildren, Shawn, Patricia, Brandi, Patrick, and J.D. "James"; nine great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Leslie, Victoria, Skylar, Justus, Lejan, Shiloh, Aaliyah, and Olivia; and two great-great-grandchildren, Zaniyah and Sawyer.

Morris was a proud United States Marine Veteran who served with distinction during the Korean War. His patriotism and love for his country were unwavering, and those who knew him were often inspired by the tales of his service. Following his military career, Morris became a skilled machinist known for his precision and pride in his work. He also harbored a deep love for his poultry farm, where he spent countless hours ensuring its success.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Morris was a man who cherished the natural world. He loved his farm and had a passion for preserving nature and caring for animals. His hands were rarely still, as he was always at work on a project or lending a hand where it was needed. Additionally, Morris was a staunch supporter of Children's Ministries, dedicating time and resources to the betterment of young lives.

Morris's interests extended to military history and politics, subjects he could discuss with keen insight and a touch of humor. His courage, love, and jovial nature touched everyone he met. To his family, Morris was more than a patriarch; he was a beacon of love and strength, providing for them with an open heart and endless generosity.

The funeral service for Morris Franklin Hodge will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Stamey Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Robert Griffin. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and share memories during the visitation, which will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Morris's life was a testament to the values he held dear. His legacy is one of honor, commitment, and joy--a legacy that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable man.
