Cleveland County Memorial Library
        On April 17, Georgiana Wright will bring her jazzy renditions of some favorite musical numbers.
        On May 1, a library staff member, Joy Cushing will accompany vocalists who will perform a selection of Broadway tunes. Other programs are TBA.
        Through the Garden Gate happens every first and third Thursday from 12:15-12:45 in the Library Meeting Room. Iced tea and water are served and your bag lunch is welcome. Take a friend and enjoy something a little special on your lunch hour.

        “Reflections” Support Group. This grief sharing group meets for six weeks. No cost and open to anyone who has lost a loved one.         Pet Loss Workshop - “Love You Forever”. If you have ever lost a pet, are dealing with grief, or your pet is beginning the journey to the Rainbow Bride, come join us! We’ll discusss end-of-life issues for your pet, stages of grief, how to handle questions and problems children may have, and memorializing that special buddy. Lane Alexander Memorial Golf Tournament
        The “Lane Alexander Memorial Golf Tournament”, 18th Annual  Communities In Schools Celebration  TEAM UP “FORE” KIDS will be held at Deer Brook Golf Club, Shelby on Friday, April 4. Texas Scramble, 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Prizes for net and gross divisions. All proceeds support Communities In Schools to keep Cleveland County kids in school and graduating. Special Olympics Cleveland County
        Special Olympics Cleveland County would love to have Cleveland County residents to come out and support their spring Track and Field games at Shelby High Football Stadium, Saturday, April 12. Spend the day cheering on our local athletes competing for a Gold Medal.
Lawndale Cub and Boy Scouts Fundraiser
       Lawndale Cub and Boy Scouts Troop 112 will have a fundraiser Saturday, April 12 at the Lawndale Community Center located on Piedmont Drive, 5:00pm. They will be having their 3rd annual firsh fry. Fish plate: $10, which includes fish, fries, hush puppies, slaw, dessert and tea. Eat in or carry out plates are available. Broad River Genealogical Society
        Broad River Genealogical Society, Shelby, NC, invites everyone to hear Mr. Rudolph Young speaking on the local African Americans that fought in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and the Civil War, April 13, 3:00pm, at Neal Senior Center (park and enter at back of center). Mr. Young will give the history of many local African American families and their helping in winning the freedom that we now have. No admission charge. Light refreshments will be available.

Shelby American Legion Post 82
   Shelby American Legion Post 82 will sponsor a Cruise-In-Supporting-Vets Saturday, April 12 (rain date Saturday April 26) at the post headquarters on South Lafayette Street in Shelby. The event will last from 10:00am until 2:00pm and will feature door prizes; a 50/50 drawing; entertainment by Rocking Rick the DJ; and hot dog plates for sale. There is a  registration fee of $10 per vehicle, which entitles the registrant to participate in the door prize drawings. All vehicles, including motor cycles, are welcome. New or old,  if it rolls, bring  it!
Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
        Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society will take a field trip to Roses Unlimited, 363 N. Deerwood Drive Laurens, SC, April 26. Take time to smell the roses. Nine greenhouses of roses in bloom for sale. From Shelby, they will carpool from Cleveland County Coop. Ext. office on Hwy 180 (next to Food Lion) in Shelby leaving at 9:00am.  From Lincolnton, meet at BiLo Parking lot on Hwy 150 (near Peoples Bank) at 9:00am. Eighth Annual Arts on the Square, Shelby
        Eighth Annual Arts on the Square will be held April 26, on the Courthouse Square, Shelby, NC. The event showcases fine art and craft by local and regional artists. The show is held in conjunction with the Broad River European Motor Club show and the Foothills Farmers Market along with the newly opened Earl Scruggs Center. The outdoor event is free and held rain or shine.

       PWP meets every Monday night at 7:00 pm. at the Shelby Presbyterian Church for educational programs and at other times as scheduled for monthly social activities including: dances, plays, and concerts.
