 Mrs. Norma “Jo” Chapman Deaton, 66, of 664 Mooresboro Road, Shelby, NC, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010. Services were held at Sandy Plains Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. 

Mrs. Deaton was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy Carl and Minnie Ruth Chatman Chapman; 1 daughter, Tonna Renee Deaton; and 1 brother, Roger Chapman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Hoyt Thomas Deaton; 1 son, Randall Deaton and wife Tonya of Shelby; 1 daughter, Cindy Hogston and husband Jeff of Boiling Springs; 1 sister, Evelyn Stroupe of Waco; and 5 grandchildren.
