Patsy Jean Bridges Davis, 85, passed away peacefully on Janaury 4, 2018 at
the Asbury Care Center at Aldersgate United Methodist Home in Charlotte,
North Carolina.

Patsy was born in Cleveland County on February 2, 1932 to the late Everette
P. Bridges and Alma Smawley Bridges.

She grew up in Chase City, Virginia where she graduated from high school
with honors, and went on to graduate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute,
known as Virginia Tech.

She later moved with her mother to Lawndale, North Carolina where she would
meet the love of her life, the late Rev. Benjamin F. Davis, with whom she
shared 50 wonderful years.

During her lifetime, Patsy was an accomplished business woman.

She enjoyed a career in medical accounting with stints at Duke University
Medical Center and what is now known as Carolinas Rehabilitation in
Charlotte.

She also contributed many years as a tax preparer with Julian Hamrick, CPA
until retirement.

One of Patsy's great passions in life was music. She enjoyed playing the
piano in her spare time and singing in the choir at Lawndale United
Methodist Church where she was a member.

She was known for her devotion to her husband, family and friends, and was
like a parent to many, finding joy and happiness in the lives of every child
she met, and rarely missing an opportunity to spend time with her nieces,
nephews, and their families.

Ever the perfect southern lady, Patsy was reserved and poised but enjoyed a
good laugh, and valued simple pleasures in life, especially visiting the
North Carolina coast with her husband.

She delighted in baking her signature chocolate fudge pie for gatherings,
and helping out in the kitchen on holidays or special occasions.

Of note, Patsy was a fierce competitor when it came to playing bridge with
her card group.

Most importantly, Patsy was a faithful servant of the Lord for all of her
days.

Patsy was preceded in death by a beloved infant daughter, Ann Elizabeth
Davis, and her husband, Rev. Benjamin F. Davis.
Surviving are four sisters-in-law who proudly called her their sister, Mary
Sue Davis Haag of Charlotte, Dorothy Davis Hoyle of Shelby, Sarah Davis
Boggs of Fallston, and Nancy Abernathy Davis, of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Also first cousins and life-long friend Jack and Betty Mauney of Shelby,
Mary Hamrick of Bostic, Earnestine Bishop of Shelby, Patricia Gibson and
Judy Butler of Virginia and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special thank you to all the compassionate caregivers and staff at
Aldersgate.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, January
8th, at the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home in Fallston, and at other times at
the home of Sarah Boggs.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 9th at
Lawndale United Methodist Church, with the Reverends Keith Sherrill and
David Hiatt officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lawndale United Methodist
Church, the Shriners Hospital for Children, or to the charity of choice.
