Paul Franklin Denton

Paul Franklin Denton, born July 10, 1941, passed away surrounded by the love of those who knew him best. A lifelong resident of Morganton, Paul built a life defined by dedication, creativity, and deep love for his family.

Paul shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patsy Ledford Denton, who was first drawn to him by his intensely blue eyes--a detail she never forgot. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and unwavering support for one another.

For 44 years, Paul worked at Kenworth in Hickory, where he was known for his strong work ethic and skill. Outside of work, Paul was an exceptionally talented welder and craftsman who could build or improve just about anything. His creativity came to life in the elaborate playhouses he built for his children, log cabins, barns, and even treehouses with skylights, each one a reflection of his love and imagination.

Paul found great joy in simple, meaningful moments. He loved gardening and was known for generously sharing his harvest, especially his corn with neighbors. He enjoyed horseback riding and raising cattle, embracing the rhythms of country life. One of his greatest pleasures was listening to his grandson's musical performances, moments that brought him immense pride and happiness.

Above all else, Paul was most proud of his children and grandchildren, who were honored to call him Dad and Grandpa will carry forward his legacy of kindness, creativity, and integrity. He was a man known for his quick wit, warm sense of humor, and a generous, honest spirit that touched many lives.

Paul will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Denton; granddaughter, Brandi Beam; brother, Wayne Denton and sister, Carolyn York.

Paul is survived by his wife, Patsy Ledford Denton; son, Chris Denton and wife, Denise of Morganton; daughter, Leigh Ann Thompson and husband, Anthony of Wendell; grandson, Marc Denton and two great-granddaughters, Scarlett Pritchard and Carlee Beam and two brothers, David Denton and wife, Myrtle of Morganton and Danny Denton of Connelly Springs and son-in-law, Randy Beam of Fallston.

A private family graveside will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Morganton with the Rev. Doug Price officiating.
