Paul Leslie Benton, 86, of Casar passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.

Paul was born on October 6, 1939 in Cleveland County, to the late Amon Benton and Katherine Dale Benton. He was retired from Forest City Tool. Paul served in the US Army and US Navy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Benton and eight siblings, Joe Benton, Irene Hull, Pearl Bledsoe, Emmitt Benton, Fred Benton, Charlie Benton, Lee Benton and Eddie Benton.

Paul is survived by his children, Donna Short and husband, Neal of Casar, Bobby Benton of Bostic and Brian Benton and wife, Stephanie of Casar; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, Brandy, Dustin, Cheyenne, Zathan and Gary, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Max, Emory, Lennon, Marley, Sunny, Skylar and Merena and a sister, Lillie Earl and husband, Wayne of Polkville.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 12:00pm at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Rickey Purnell officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the graveside service.
