Pearl Rebecca Bingham

Pearl Rebecca Bingham, 84, of 610 Sugar Hill Rd, Lawndale, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at Brian Center in Lincolnton.


Mrs. Bingham was born in Cleveland County on September 28, 1927, to the late Otis William Greene and Annie Belle Carswell Greene.  She had worked for Esther Mills as a loom tender until her marriage to Mr. Bingham.  She was a

founding member of Bethel Baptist Church where she taught the GA class. When Mrs. Bingham moved to Lawndale she joined Friendship United Methodist Church where she taught the middle school boys with her husband and would

continue to teach Sunday school, ending with the Friendship Sunday school class. Mrs. Bingham served on various committees at the church including the administrative council. 


Mrs. Bingham was a very social person and was active in the Homemaker Extension Club, Fallston Lions Club, United Methodist Women's Circle and the Friendship Club.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Greene, Glenn Greene, and Howard Greene and sister, Pauline Lee.


She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Daniel "J.D." Bingham; son, Danny Bingham of Vale; two daughters, Amanda Wright and husband Bryan of Greenville, SC and Julie Cloninger and husband Jeff of Dallas; sister,

Alma McSwain and husband Bobby of Shelby; 9 grandchildren, Sherri Tipton and husband Brandon, Joe Bingham, Scott Bingham, Sharon Holcombe and husband Josh, Jeremy Wright, Kendall Wright, Jacob Cloninger, Jaclyn Cloninger, and Jason Cloninger; and 8 great grandchildren.
