Mrs. Phyllis Joan Sills McClellan, age 87, of 108 Columns Circle, died Wednesday, July 8, 2026, calmly in her sleep at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born on October 23, 1938. Joan graduated from Shelby High School in the class of 1957 and completed her Nurses Training in 1960 when she became a registered nurse. She spent 6 years working in the OB Department at the hospital before transitioning to a position at a doctor's office which she held until her retirement in 2001.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert Sills and Lucille Dillard Sills; her brother, Robert Sills and wife Judy; daughter, Tamara Ann McClellan; and her daughter-in-law, Teresa Little McClellan.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ansel McClellan, of the home; son, Phillip Ansel McClellan Sr., and wife Kirsta, of Shelby; grandchildren, Treka Davis and husband Steven, of Boiling Springs, SC, Philip Ansel McClellan II and wife Riley, of Shelby, Brittney Grigg and husband Tyler, of Lawndale, and Dusty Mode, of Shelby; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at the Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory with Dr. Ervin Price and Pastor Maggie Andre officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the services. Her remains will be laid to rest in the Cleveland Memorial Park.
