Quiency McCluney
Quiency McCluney, 70, of 721 West Warren Street, Shelby, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Atrum Health Cleveland. Quiency was born February 10, 1953, in Cleveland County to the late Kathleen McCluney and Robert Adams.
He was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Army for four years. Quiency explored various occupations and graduated from Cleveland Community College (formerly Cleveland Tech); after which he settled upon a career at Eaton Corporation, where he worked for 31 years before retiring. Although limited in mobility, it did not impact his ability to continue to plant and grow; he utilized the hands and feet of others to continue to garden, planting various vegetables around the house. Along with his love for the outdoors, he also equally loved to travel. In his lifetime, Quiency took over ten cruises to most of the islands in the Caribbean. He made an annual fishing trip for about 16 years to the Gulf of Mexico and although his health and mobility declined, his spirits did not. He was a jokester, a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan; he adored children and loved taking car rides to the mountains or just traveling for a good meal, whether crab legs or African cuisine. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Jermaine McCluney. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 25 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church at 2 p.m., with the receiving of friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. Services will be officiated by Rev.
