Rachel Thrift Swink age 83 died Thursday November 28, 2013 at Hospice Cleveland County. Born on December 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Landrum and Dessie Viola Oliver Thrift. Rachel was a member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church. Rachel worked at Ora Mill for a number of years and then as a waitress for The Hub Café. Rachel enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Preston Zeno Swink; and a brother, Edward Thrift.

Rachel is survived by two sisters, Eva Self and longtime family friend,  Robert Hand, and Nelene Swink and husband Steve all of Shelby; and nieces and nephews, Kimberly Grant and husband Dale, Ted and Susan Thrift, James Thrift, Josie Grant, Preston Grant, Ashley Thrift, and Quinton Thrift all of Shelby.

Funeral services will be held on Monday December 2, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, and other times at the home of Kimberly and Dale Grant
