Richard Craig Caldwell

Richard Craig Caldwell, 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 15, 2026.
Born December 14, 1953, he was the son of Hugh M. Caldwell Jr. and Daisy R. Caldwell Winslow. Richard was raised in Columbus, Wisconsin, and graduated from high school in Hudson, Ohio. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
He dedicated more than 30 years of service to Nippon Electric Glass (formerly PPG) in Shelby, North Carolina, where he later retired. A hardworking man with an artist's soul, Richard poured his creativity into sculpture, stained glass, and custom woodworking. His craftsmanship was featured in Better Homes and Gardens.
Known for his quick wit and warm smile, he always had a joke ready and happy to play a guitar wherever he went. He was a proud and devoted Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Roxanne M. Caldwell and Grandson Leo Merck of Shelby, NC; his brother, Hugh "Mac" Caldwell (Allison) of Dacono, CO; his sisters, Jean Passarello (Tony) of Sandy Springs, GA, and Catherine Ferretti of Sarasota, FL; his daughter, Laura Aldrich (Ben) of Sevierville, TN; his son, Craig Caldwell (Alyssa) of Chesapeake, VA; and his grandsons, Colton and Cade Caldwell and Aiden Aldrich.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
