Robert "Bob" Lee Phifer

Robert "Bob" Lee Phifer, age 93, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at White Oak Manor of Shelby NC.

Born in Charlotte, NC he was the son of the late William Stancil and Ethel Klutz Phifer. Robert was a wonderful man who loved spending time with his family, fishing at the coast, working in his yard, and was an excellent cook. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Shelby for over 70 years. Robert will be remembered as a man with unconditional love for everyone and had a giving and caring spirit toward his family and community. Upon graduating High School, Robert served in the US Navy in 1946-47 during the WW II Era. After serving in the military, he began his career with Southern Bell and retired, having offered 42 years of service. While enjoying his retirement, he worked at Scott's Tree Farm in Shelby where he enjoyed all aspects of farming, especially operating the farm equipment.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Patsy Manous Phifer and his brothers William and Louis.

Survivors include his daughter Debra Phifer Ellman and husband Robert of Charlotte, Robert Dale Phifer and wife Elaine of Kings Mountain and Patrick Lee Phifer and wife Debbie of Shelby, one sister, Catherine "Cat" Covington of Myrtle Beach, SC four grandchildren, Ashley Curtis (Ray), Tria Fore (Dustin), Alisa Phifer and Jordan Phifer as well as three great grandchildren; Zavier Curtis, Trinity Curtis and Addie Fore.

A private service will be held. Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
