Robert Sloan Buff, Jr. 73, of 115 S. Mountain St., died Monday Dec. 17, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Lincoln co. on Jan. 10, 1939 a son of the late Robert S. and Mary Margaret Moss Buff. Mr. Buff was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where is a former Elder, Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 AF & AM. He was a retired dockworker, yard man, and driver for Carolina Freight Carriers, past president of the Cherryville Optimist, former Little League baseball coach, and was inducted into the Cherryville Sports hall of Fame.
 
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Penny Hoyle Buff, two daughter Andrea Buff Armstrong and husband Arnold of Cherryville, and Lara Buff Britton and husband Jeff of Cherryville, two sons Robert S. Buff III and wife Donna of Lincolnton and Chris Buff and wife Crystal of Cherryville, ex son-in-law Jeffrey Day of Bessemer City and ex daughter in law Kim Shipley of Cherryville, sister Becky Rich of Clover, SC and Cathey Neiswonger of Dazell, SC and a brother Roddey Buff and wife Margaret of Cherryville, nine grandchildren Heather and Trey Buff, Brittany Capps, Sloan and Meggie Britton, Taylor Shelton, Bethany Day, and Lainie and Jarod Buff, three  step grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous friends. 
 
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating  with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at the home on
Mountain St. from 5-8 PM
