Ruby Hester McSwain Ward, 88, of Casar passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 3, 1936 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Willie James McSwain and Mae Causby McSwain. Ruby Dedicated her life to serving God and nurturing her children. She was a member of Blessed Way Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Ward and Tommy Ward and a sister, Hattie McMurry.

Ruby is survived by her children, Deborah Camp and husband, William of Casar, Melissa Calloway of Shelby and William Ward and wife, Kim of Maiden. She leaves behind a loving sister, Shirley McSwain Bridges and brother, Dale McSwain and wife, Wanda all of Shelby. Mrs. Ward was also blessed with 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild who will forever cherish her warmth and wisdom.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 2:00pm at Blessed Way Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Cook and Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating. Mrs. Ward will lie in state 30 minutes before the service.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
