Russell Darren Dotson, 58, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 31, 2025 at his residence in Lawndale, NC.

Russell was born on May 13, 1967 in Mingo County, West Virginia to Shelby Jean McCoy and the late Earl Dotson. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.

Survivors in addition to his mother, Shelby is one son Russell Dotson, Jr of the home; five sisters, Tammy Sisk, Earlene Nestor, Joann Johnson, Thelma Johnson, Tina Detamore; 5 brothers, Tommy Dotson, Timmy Dotson, Larry Johnson, Herbert Johnson, Danny Johnson, and several nephews and nieces.


In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Mack Johnson Jr. of Hickory, NC.

A private family memorial service will be on August 10th at the mother's residence.
