Cherryville - Mrs. Ruth Foster Godfrey, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Godfrey was born on April 6, 1935 in Lincoln County, NC daughter of the late Ralph Foster and Dora Lula Conner Foster. She was retired from the textile industry. Mrs. Godfrey was a lifelong member of Bess Chapel Methodist Church where she played piano and organ, sang in the choir and helped with the children's choir. She was also a member of the Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Godfrey; three sons, Robert, David and Walter Godfrey and a brother, Edwin Foster.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Godfrey and wife Judy; her daughter, Sarah Farmer and husband Eddie; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Godfrey all of Cherryville; seven grandchildren, Travis Farmer, Luke Farmer, Chris Godfrey, Shane Godfrey, Charlye Jarrett, Kim Godfrey, David Godfrey and 14 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:45PM to 2:45PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Bess Chapel Methodist Church Fellowship Hall and at other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Bess Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Stan Nantz officiating.
Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
