Sarah Hord Queen, 79, of Lawndale, passed away on October 1, 2025 at Atrium Health - Cleveland.

Sarah was born on March 20, 1946, in Cleveland County, NC to the late Thomas Beauford Hord and Lucille Julia McFarland Hord. Sarah started her working career as a beautician, then at the age of 50 she went back to school to become a registered nurse. She worked for Morganton Eye Center for seventeen years. She was a member of First Methodist Church Lawndale where she was a choir member. She was a proud member of the Democratic Women of Cleveland County. Sarah has served on the Lawndale Town Council since 2008. She was a member of the Sit and Stitch Group at the Spangler Library.

Sarah is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roy Lathan Queen; three daughters, Julie Brackett and husband, Mark of Shelby, Jerrianne Queen and husband, Steve McMurry of Lawndale and Jenny McMurry and husband, Bryon of Lawndale; two grandchildren, Yancey McMurry and Nadia Chauhan of Boone and Selma McMurry and Raquel Hislop of Due West, Sc and Chapel Hill respectively; a sister, Sherry Spangler and husband, Buck of Shelby and niece, Paula Greene and husband, Bryan. Sarah was also survived by her numerous Queen Family members who were loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 1:30pm to 2:45pm at First Methodist Church Lawndale.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00pm at First Methodist Church Lawndale with Mr. Eli Simmons officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.
