Scott Jason McCombs
Scott Jason McCombs, known affectionately to all as Scott, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 48, in Los Angeles, California.
Born on September 15, 1976, in Mobile, Alabama, to loving parents Walter and Cheryl McCombs, Scott's vibrant spirit and warm smile brought joy to everyone he encountered throughout his life.
Scott's adventurous heart led him on many journeys, but the most cherished adventure of all was being a father and family man. Scott's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his parents and his biological children, Thomas Farlow and Rebekah Moss, along with her boyfriend, Hunter Eubanks. His legacy continues through his sons, Scott Moss, Thaddeus Mendez, and Matthew McCombs with his wife, Taylor, and his daughters, Selena McCombs, Mary McCombs, and Tabetha Jenkins with her husband, Caleb. Scott's life was further enriched by the presence of his brothers, Walter David McCombs III and Billy Lee McCombs, and his sister, Jennifer Lynn Moss. Scott's grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Although circumstances prevented him from meeting many of them, his love for them was boundless and pure. In his eyes, they were the stars that lit up the heavens, each one a precious gem that he treasured deeply. He is survived by his grandchildren Xyla and Xayden Jenkins, Laela and Briar Eubanks, Zachariah Owen, and Jacqueline Mendez. Although his grandchild Eli Hall preceded him in death, Scott's love for Eli remains eternal.
Scott was a dreamer. In his youth, he had a passion for one day becoming an astronaut, and later he aspired to become a millionaire. He had a knack for striking up conversations with strangers, leaving them feeling as if they were long-lost friends. His sense of humor was remarkable. His spirit of adventure was not just in traversing the globe but in exploring the depths of human kindness and companionship. Known for going out of his way to help others in need, he often did so even when he had very little for his own sustenance.
While Scott's life might be likened to the pursuit of waterfalls--constantly searching for fulfillment and stability--he taught us a valuable lesson: to cherish the rivers and lakes, the constants in our lives that offer us true satisfaction. His story serves as a reminder for us all to appreciate the beauty in our everyday surroundings and to find contentment in the stability and love of family and friends.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Scott's life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home in Fallston, NC, with the Rev. Johnny Norris Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park, where Scott will be laid to rest. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories during the visitation hours from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the funeral home.
As we bid Scott farewell on his journey to the Lord's heavenly home, we rejoice in the knowledge that he has found the ultimate fulfillment and stability in the arms of our Creator. May we find comfort in our memories, strength in our fellowship, and peace in the assurance that Scott's spirit soars free, unbound by the mortal coil, in the place where rivers and lakes flow into the ocean of God's eternal love.
