Shelby Lions Club Distributes Commodities
The Shelby Lions Club gave out $16,900.00 worth of surplus commodity food to 6,688 persons representing 2,956 households during its quarterly food distribution on November 29th, 30th, and December 1st. According to Lion Dave Titus, that is a 6 percent increase over the September food handout. Five tractor trailer trucks were needed to haul the 123,000 pounds of commodities to the distribution center at Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Three persons from a homeless shelter were hired to assist the Lions and community volunteers with the project.
