Shirley Montez Ross Causby, 82, of Shelby passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Atrium Health - Cleveland in Shelby.

Shirley was born on October 10, 1943, in Cleveland County, and was a daughter of the late Sherman Ross and Irene McNeely Ross.

She was retired from Hoechst Celanese. She had a love for boating and fishing and was a member of the Fairfield Boat Club.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a stepchild, Robin Causby; two brothers, Donald and Farrell Ross and a sister, Jackie Pierce.

Shirley is survived by loving husband of forty-four years, Richard Lee Causby; daughter Laurie Ruppe Huss and husband Todd of Shelby; three stepchildren, Doug Causby and wife Kim of Kings Mountain, Lee Causby of Lincolnton and Delta Phillips and husband Roger of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Joyce Warren and husband Roy of Waxhaw and Cathy Dick of Lawndale; two grandchildren, Tabatha Owens and husband Tracy, Jr. and Alex Huss; three grandchildren, Hunter Robinson, Tracy Owens III, and Lily Owens and several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
