Thad Dallas Kilby, age 83, peacefully passed away at home Tuesday, September 12, 2023, with his devoted wife by his side.

Thad was born in Cherryville on August 3, 1940, to the late Thad David Kilby & Minnie Louise Setzer Kilby.

Surviving Thad is his loving wife, Ellen McKinney Kilby, son, David Kilby and his wife, Cheryl, and daughter, Leigh Ann Kilby. Left to cherish his precious memory, his granddaughter, Savannah Justice and great granddaughter, Arabella Rose. Thad also leaves behind furry friends and constant companions, Tiny & Kodiak.

In addition to his parents, Thad is preceded in death by brothers, John D. Kilby, Larry Wayne Kilby, and sister, Alice Kilby.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to Hospice Cleveland County: 951 Wendover Heights Dr, Shelby, NC 28150, or Alzheimer's Association: P.O. Box 96011. Washington, DC 20090.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11am, in the sanctuary of Elizabeth Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Rit Varriale. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center.
