Tommy Pressley "Tom" Bridges
Tommy Pressley "Tom" Bridges passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at Atrium Health-Cleveland, enveloped in the love of his family. Born in Cleveland County on March 27, 1936, his life was one marked by dedication to his community, a love of aviation, and a passion for serving others.
Tom's journey began as the son of the late William Paul Bridges and Vetus Ivey Costner Bridges. His path led him to find joy in the bonds of family, first with his late wife, Ada Wilson Bridges, and later with his second wife, Doris Bingham Conley Bridges. He experienced the sorrow of bidding farewell to his parents, his first wife, his stepson Kevin Conley, his brothers William Paul Bridges, Jr. and Dixon Bridges, as well as his sisters Tillie Goins and Patsy Jolene Bridges.
His legacy flourishes through his loving family, including his second wife Doris, his son Rev. Tommy P. Bridges Jr. and wife Lynn, daughters Cindy B. Tindall and Lisa B. Bolt with husband Paul, stepson Rodney Conley and wife Kim, his step daughter-in-law, Connie Conley, his brother Harry Bridges, his cherished grandchildren, Lane Tindal and wife Lacy, Christa Tindall, Stephen Bolt and wife Michelle, Kelli Powell and husband Nick, Kayla Bolt, Matthew Bridges and wife Addi, Nathan Bridges and wife Sara and Daniel Bridges and wife Tina; step grandchildren, Austin Conley and wife Ashley, Ethan Conley, Hannah Conley, Daniel Pegram and wife Whitney, Jennifer Pegram and Jordan Rusell; great-grandchildren, Camy Ballenger, Jae Ballenger, Elaine Bolt, Lillie Bolt, Adalyn Powell, Atlas Bridges, Ada Grace Bridges, Nora Bridges and Stoney Bridges and step great grandchildren, Eva Grace Conley, Hadley Nicole Conley, Cooper Pegram, Millie Jo Pegram, Ellie Joy Pegram, Amelia Rose Smith, and Hudson Conley each a testament to his enduring love and wisdom.
A respected businessman, Tom was the proud owner and operator of the NAPA Kings Mountain, where his hard work and dedication were evident to all who knew him. His spirit of service transcended his business endeavors as he served his country for nine years in the National Guard, illustrating his steadfast patriotism and resilience.
Tom's commitment to Cleveland County was unwavering. As a former County Commissioner and Kings Mountain School Board Member, he left a lasting impact on the community he so adored. His vibrant interest in aviation bloomed into a role with the Civil Air Patrol and as a flight instructor, sharing his passion for the skies with many.
A cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, Tom lived his faith and was an example of compassion and devotion to many within his community.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 4, 2025, at 1:30 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Bridges Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston, NC.
