Vernette Turner Cook
Vernette Turner Cook, 91, of Casar, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.
Born on January 14, 1926, in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Clelo Turner and Zennie Waters Turner. She was a homemaker and member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church. Vernett enjoyed working puzzles and loved cooking for her family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband J.D. Cook, three brothers, Winsow Turner, Dewey Turner, and O.C. Turner; and two sisters, Versie Whisnant & Mae Turner.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Carol Cook, Rev. Tommy and Stary Cook, and Douglas and Joyce Cook all of Casar; five grandchildren and spouses, Neal Cook, Kristie and Jacob Wellmon, Beryl and Sommer Cook, Brandon and Jennifer Cook, and Bryan and Bonnie Cook; thirteen great grandchildren, Matthew Cook and wife Elizabeth, Nathan Cook, Elijah Cook, Jordan Cook, Tyler Wease, Dylan Cook, Tinley Cook, Madison Cook, Ally Cook, Mason Wellmon, Abbie Wellmon, Jace Cook and Aimee Cook; and two great great grandchildren, Macey and Gunner Cook.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.
The funeral service will held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Morris Memorial Baptist Church with the Dr. Chris Emory, Rev. Tommy Cook and Rev. Landon Rice officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes before the service at the church.
Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
