Vertie Lail, 93, of Corinth Church Circle, Casar, passed away Thursday, July
2, 2015 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

She was born in Cleveland County on April 22, 1922, to the late Clem Dixon
Wortman and Thana Viller Wall Wortman. Mrs. Lail was retired after thirty
years of service from Broughton Hospital as a supervisor in the Employee
Dietary Department.

In addition to her parents for she was preceded in death by her husband
Raymond Lail; three brothers, Lloyd Wortman, J.P. Wortman, and Lawton
Wortman; two sisters, Gladys Ledford and Pauline Earwood; and son-in-law,
Keith Canipe.

She is survived by her son, Harold Lail and wife Polly of Shelby; daughter,
Linda Canipe of Shelby; sister, Muriel Southard and husband Paul Fulton; two
grandchildren, Tommy Hunt and wife Karren of Shelby and Christy Cook and
husband Dwight of Shelby; four great grandchildren, Anna Labuanan and
husband Keliko, Sarah Hunt, Isaac Cook and Andrew Cook; step great
grandchild, Brandy Cook; and great great grandchild, Isabella McDaniel.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 pm to 2:30 at Casar
United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be Monday at 2:30 pm at Casar United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Bill Lovelace officiating.

The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
