Walter "Shorty" Billy Gantt

Walter "Shorty" Billy Gantt, 80, of 291 Cat Square Road, Vale, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at his residence.
Born December 22, 1933 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late George Gantt and Lottie Brackett Gantt. Shorty was retired after 30 plus years at Carolina Freight Carriers as a truck driver and was a member of Reeps Grove
United Methodist Church. He was also retired after 20 years of service with Howard's Creek Volunteer Fire Department and he loved to work on tractors and wood working.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Gantt and Harold Gantt.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy Ann Gilbert Gantt; a son, W. Eddie "Ed" Gantt of Cherryville; two daughters, Toni "Tonette" Richmond of Lincolnton and Crickett Gantt of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Josh Gantt
and wife, Disa, Emily Davis and husband, Tim, Maeghan Richmond, Corbin Richmond; five great-grandchildren, Kialyn Gantt, Rozalyn Ware, Molly Davis, Chloe Davis and Ruby Rose Richmond; and two sisters, Patricia Gantt of Lawndale and Thelma Sherrill of Newton.
Visitation: 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.
Officiating; Rev. Travis Allshouse and Rev. Harry Andrews
Burial: will follow in the church cemetery
