Warren "Flash" Alonzo Wray
Warren "Flash" Alonzo Wray passed away on September 27, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. Born on March 29, 1960, in Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of Ms. Helen "Shorty" Banner and the late Mr. Floyd "Boot" Lee Huskey. Along with his biological father, Warren was also deeply loved and raised by his devoted stepfather, Mr. Elmer Jerome Banner Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mr. Orlando Floyd Huskey, Mr. Johnathan Laray Huskey, and Mr. Robert Banner; his sisters, Ms. Carla Huskey and Mrs. Tammy Wray Downs; his paternal grandparents, Mr. Hal and Mrs. Anna Huskey; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. Cofford and Mrs. Ida Wray.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mrs. Pamela D. Wray; and his beloved children: Mr. Rushee Harris (Mrs. Tamecka Harris) of Detroit, MI; Mr. Anteaus Woods (Mrs. Amanda Woods) of Boiling Springs, NC; Mrs. Tonya Higgins (Mr. Micheal Higgins) of Atlanta, GA; Mr. Rodrick "Booda" Wray of Spartanburg, SC; Mrs. Cheyenne Lawrence (Mr. Dion Lawrence) of Cincinnati, OH; Mrs. Yaslyn Wray Placide (Mr. Randolph Placide) of Providence, RI; Mr. Jarrod Wray (Mrs. Taylor Wray) of Spartanburg, SC, Mr. Cornielus Scott of Kings Mountain, NC; and Mrs. Shawanna Whitaker (Mr. Darius Whitaker) of Greensboro, NC. He is also lovingly remembered by his bonus children: Ms. Tasha Young, Mr. Calvin Moore, and Mr. James Brooks, all of Shelby, NC.
He is survived by his siblings: Mr. Alton Huskey (Mrs. Veronica Huskey) of Riverview, FL; Mr. Dwight Bostic (Mrs. Sharnette Bostic) of Roselle, NJ; Mr. Wayne Wray of Shelby, NC; Mrs. Cynthia Banner White (Mr. Floyd White) of Shelby, NC; Ms. Vivian Huskey of Columbia, SC; Mrs. Marilyn Huskey Brooks (Mr. Earl Brooks) of Columbia, SC; Mr. Timothy Banner (Mrs. Francis Banner) of Shelby, NC; Mr. Elmer Jerome Banner Jr. of Shelby, NC; and Dr. Linda Lockhart (Reverend. Ray Lockhart Jr.) of Shelby, NC. Also left to honor his memory is his lifelong best friend, Mr. Randritz Hopper of Shelby, NC. He was a proud grandfather to thirty-eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is further survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Shelby. Burial took place at Sunset Cemetery.
