Willford Lee “Jack” Greene

ELLENBORO - Willford Lee “Jack” Greene, 85, of Ellenboro, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County. A native of Rutherford County, he was born on July 27, 1927, a son of the late Howard Lee and Mattie Green Greene. He was the former owner of Discount Tire of Forest City and was a United States Navy Veteran, having served in WWII. He was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Ellenboro where he was a former deacon. Mr. Greene was a member of the Gideon International.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Velle Camp and Jean Tisdale. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Steyer Greene; one son, Steve Greene and wife Sandra of Ellenboro; one sister, Eleanor G. Hamrick of Gastonia; two grandchildren, Christopher Greene and wife Ashley and Allyson Greene; two great grandchildren, Maddie Greene and Izabella Greene.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church of Ellenboro with the Rev. Michael Sepaugh, Dr. Wayne Blackwood and Rev. David Philbeck officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00pm - 9:00pm on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home.
