William Franklin Earwood
William Franklin Earwood, 92, of Old Charles Road, Shelby, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Peak Resources in Cherryville.
He was born in Cleveland County on July 29, 1924 to the late Moton Earwood and Emma Blanton Earwood. He was retired from Midstate Mills in Newton and was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church. He also served in the US Marine Corp stationed in Hawaii and Guam during World War II. Frank loved to travel and had visited every state but Alaska.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Wortman Earwood; second wife, Marjorie Hill Earwood; son, Coleman Earwood; three brothers, Paul Earwood, Walter Earwood, and Donald "Shorty" Earwood; three sisters, Edith Little, Doris Vinesett, and Anne Ledford.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Raines Earwood; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Joe Costner of Fallston, daughter-in-law, Lynn Franklin; stepson and wife, Danny and Nancy Hawkins of Boiling Springs, SC; five grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Robin Earwood of Shelby, Kim and Roger Blanton of Shelby, Cynthia Earwood of Shelby, Joe "Donnie' Costner III of Fallston; Tracy and James Lowie of Honea Path, SC; ten great-grandchildren and spouse; Emily Blanton, Cole Blanton, Mandy and Josh Thackerson; Kasey Earwood; Joseph Costner, Emma Costner, Gus Lowie, Sam Lowie, Jud Lowie and Max Lowie; four great great grandchildren, Ally, Brody and Colby Thackerson and Ella Heafner; brother, Joe Earwood of Shelby and sister, Nellie Allen of Winter Park, FL.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.
The funeral service will be on Friday at 4:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Tim Hendrick officiating.
The entombment will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum, Fallston.
