American Legion World Series Kicks Off With 7th Inning Stretch Festival
First Time Around
The kickoff celebration for this year’s American Legion World Series began on Friday, August 9th in uptown Shelby. The celebration included free concerts, a 5K run, games, high school bands, a variety of demonstrations, chalk fest, photo journey of the World Series history in Cleveland County, and food ushered in the second annual “7th Inning Stretch” festival. The event was held around the court square. Shelby will host the Series today, August 14th through the 19th at the magnificent Keeter Stadium, located on the campus of Shelby High School.
