Ellenboro - Bertie Lowery Spratt, 87, of Ellenboro, died on Saturday, May 6, 2012 at Hospice House of Rutherford County. A native of Henrietta, Bertie was born on October 19, 1924. Her parents were the late Samuel and Cora Wilkerson Lowery. She was the wife of her childhood sweetheart, Andrew Chalmer Spratt, Jr. They were united in marriage on January 20, 1942. Bertie was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She joined the church on June 7, 2937 and was baptized in the culvert on August 1, 1937. She has remained as a member of Corinth Baptist Church since her joining and has been served by twelve different pastors during this time. At Corinth, she has taught Sunday School in the Children's Department, been a choir member, and taught Vacation Bible School. In the Corinth community she has served as a 4H leader. She also belonged to the Woodmen of the World since 1958.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. she is survived by her loving children, Donald Spratt and wife Cynthia of Ellenboro; Debbie Toney of Ellenboro and Patsy Andrews and husband Jimmy of Bostic; one sister, Doris Henson of Forest City; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 on Wednesday, April 9, 2012 at Corinth Baptist church with the Rev. David Jendrey and Rev. Ad. Hopper officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm om Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at McKinney- Landrth & Carroll Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Donald and Cynthia Spratt.
