Billy Joe Mills, age 82 of Lawndale, NC, formerly of Charlotte passed away November 10, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Thursday, November 13^th in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, Reverend Leland K. Stephens officiating. Visitation will be one hour (1-2PM) prior to the service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Mr. Mills was born in Charlotte January 12, 1932 son of the late Zeb Herman Mills, Sr. and Selma Thomas Mills. He was formerly a member of Westside Baptist Church, was a graduate of Harding High School, attended Central Piedmont College, was an honorary member of IUEC, Local #135., retired in 1997 as a Business Agent for IUEC Local #135. He loved golfing and playing pool. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary Nivens Mills, sons, Barry Joe Mills and wife, Elaine of Mooresville, NC and Charles “Mike” Mills and wife, Treva of Denver, NC, grandchildren, Jake, Stacy and Janna, sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Marion, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sherry Mills and one sister and one brother.
